week twenty seven

Hi there! It's the beginning of a new week and as every Monday I will share my previous week with you.

Hope you all had a great 4th of July! We didn't do much just hung out with friends in their backyard. After our bbq we were so stuffed and tired we were not able to walk a couple of blocks to watch the fireworks, we just stayed put in the backyard and kept talking. The rest of the (work) week was pretty uneventful. On Friday I jumped onto a train taking me to the Jersey Shore to hang out with two girl friends. Because all of us were very tired we spent the evening on one of the girls balcony with two bottles of Prosecco and chatted the night away. Saturday we hit the beach, P joined us as well. Today we walked along the Hudson waterfront after having brunch and shortly after I said to P that we need a bar on one of the piers we discovered Pier 13 which is just that. They had a bunch of food carts set up and one served as a bar. You could either sit on benches or on beach chairs. We enjoyed our (non-alcoholic) drinks and the view in a pair of beach chairs right at the water and definitely will be back! What adventures had week twenty seven in store for you?

Have a great week!

  1. Okay, I think that Pier is pretty flipping awesome. I also think sipping prosecco in the back yard is pretty flipping awesome too. We had a very casual, somewhat impromptu cookout with some neighbors on Sunday (impromptu as in two of the three couples were calling us from the grocery store at the same time!), but it was just too hot to eat outside. Still, the AC blasting inside was lovely, as was the company. Here's to a cooler week!

    1. Sounds like you had a great weekend too! I think I have to try out the beer can chicken the next time we are firing up the grill. The temperatures here dropped - finally! Hope it's gotten cooler in your neck of the woods too.

    2. We had storms last night and today, and that helped considerable. I'd really not like to see 100+ again this summer, if you could arrange that! ;)

  2. It sounds like a great weekend down at the shore (especially if it started out with 2 bottles of Prosecco on the balcony!) This post and pictures make me SO sad/missing the 'Boken.

  3. It was sooo hot this weekend, wasn't it? Good for you for hanging out at the beach! Pier 13 looks awesome, is that real grass or astroturf? Either way, pretty cool and the views look spectacular. I love any excuse to drink Prosecco!

    1. Yes, it was waaaay too hot. I don't function properly in the heat, my brain turned to mush. It's actually real grass, felt so nice under my feet...

  4. Wohoo! That pier 13 looks marvelous! So would like to be there. I haven't been to a beach once. Got to rectify that.

  5. Looks like a lot of people have been out worshiping the sun god - nice!

    1. I love the sun, although I stay in the shade most of the time. Is that a contradiction? It is just nicer when the sun is shining ;)

  6. I think all your hot weather on the East Coast is coming our way. Now if I could only find a Pier 13 and get my hands on some prosecco, I'll be all set. When all else fails, getting yourself to some water (beach or pool) is the way to go. Hope cooler weather is on your horizon soon.

    1. It finally cooled down this week and it feels perfect right now. Not too cold, not too hot. Stay cool!

  7. Loved these pics! Especially the one of the stripy parasol. Deck chairs remind me of Green Park in London where people sit amongst the pigeons, with a newspaper over their face while having a snooze :)
