NJoy - keep it pretty

It's Friday again and the weekend is almost here. Looking forward to sleep in on Sunday and maybe even get some work on the vestibule done. Time is ticking away and I have set my goal to finishing it before my parents arrival. If not maybe I can put them to work ;)

I have been racking my brain for a while to come up with an idea for a recurring column on the blog. Feel like I am all over the place when writing about my life, our house, what I love, and a column besides the weekly recap would be nice. The idea I came up with is NJoy where I want to share great things about the state I call home. Today it is even something that is going on in my neighborhood where I have seen all these signs pop up. Kids from a local elementary school created 50 different posters with slogans, in both English and Spanish, to encourage the neighborhood to beautify and clean up their environment. The campaign is aptly named Keep it pretty, Jersey City! I have found seven signs so far maybe I will discover the remaining forty-three soon.

Keep it pretty wherever you are!

  1. Great idea for a column, Nina! I think we all love learning more about where each of us lives. I feel hopeless at coming up with stuff like neat columns and recurring features, and like you, I feel all over the place too. I've done a few posts on "Where I live," but I could definitely be more focused about it, and well... everything!

    1. Thank you Lauren! I hope I continue the idea of this column and want to try post about NJ once a month. Already have some ideas for the future. We probably all feel the same about our blogs once in a while, I just wish I had more time to focus on the things I want to change...

  3. I love the new column! Very clever with the title, and it doesn't limit you to one specific topic either. I love this little campaign the kids started. Really adorable signs they made! Keep it Pretty Jersey City! Have a great weekend, don't kill yourself trying to do too much.

    1. I was scared that the title for the column sounds too cheesy ;) but I guess it works and really says everything I want to say about the nice things here in the garden state.

    1. I hope that the people in my neighborhood feel guilty too. Some people here just throw their stuff on the street, even if there is a trashcan just half block away. It always comes down to time doesn't it? I never have enough time either...

  7. Those signs are WONDERFUL!!! 50 total huh! Sounds like a FUN scavenger hunt. I remember in New Rochelle, NY there was an artist that overnight kept secretly painting watermelons throughout the town (like a bandit haha) .. it was SO MUCH FUN spotting them (though I think he got in trouble for painting without permission) Oopsie. :)

  8. What a great campaign for kids to get involved in. The tagline reminds me of a saying that my good friend likes to use, "Keep it classy." :) I like the your new column idea. I'm a huge fan of recurring columns as they help keep me organized and sane. Looking forward to seeing more.
