unfinished business

Two weeks ago Leena from Onshore challenged her readers to share four of their unfinished projects. Here are mine and we will see if I can finish one of the projects this weekend. On the first picture you can see an old lamp shade I had and pink rope, I have an idea of what I want to do with it but am not ready to share it just yet. The yarn on the second photo is left over from a little diy project that I did a while ago but haven't shared on the blog yet and I want to use the leftovers to try myself on friendship bracelets, never made one so far but I am up for the challenge. I will be using the chartreuse boucle fabric on the chair on the left in my upcoming upholstery class. I liked the class so much I am taking it again. Yay! It starts in October and of course I will be showing the process of how the chair transforms again. The chair on the right needs reupholstering too, as well as refinishing of the wood frame. I rescued it and its two brothers from the street last year. It is a great looking chair but definitely needs some love. Not sure about what fabric to use yet. Maybe go bold on one chair and create a pair with the remaining ones? Any suggestions?

What are you guys up to this weekend? Do you have any unfinished business to work on? Whatever you do have a great weekend!

  2. I can't believe you find awesome chairs like that on the street! No one ever throws anything good away here, haha. I'm so excited you're taking that upholstery class again! You had so much fun last time and your chair came out looking amazing. Can't wait to see this round! I love your photographs, really nice lighting.

  7. I'm with Erin, I cannot believe you just find chairs left on the side of the street. Sounds like you've got some pretty interesting projects up your sleeve. I've got so many projects around the house that need my attention, I don't know where to start. Plenty of furniture that needs sanding and painting. I've also got some wire Eames chairs that could sure use new powder coating and leather bikini chair covers. Oh, it's endless. I'm really into brown and black right now, so I would probably reupholster those chairs in black leather or linen. But it sounds like you want do something more fun. What about a fun pattern (a la Dwell Studio)? Above all else, have fun with it. Hope you had a great weekend!

    1. I can't believe my luck either, trash day here comes with great surprises at least once in a while. Your little furniture collection sounds amazing! For two of the chairs I was thinking black leather like you and I want to go bold with the third. A fun pattern sounds great, I will check out Dwell Studio's options and Marimekko came to mind too. Hope you had a great one as well!
