I know I am a little bit late with a color of the year post as it was already announced that emerald is the color of the year for 2013. According to the official announcement on the Pantone website the color is "Lively. Radiant. Lush...A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony." At first I thought why green but when researching for this post I really fell in love with the color and all its different shades, so my finds are not necessarily just emerald green. The image with the stair was brought to my attention by Ana from Fluxi on Tour and it is another great option for my stair dilemma. What do you think about the color green?
You know the shop I sometimes shoot for? Simply Selmas? One of their owners used to be a jewelry designer and she hit a point with me where she wouldn't let me buy green *anything* from her anymore! I'm so drawn to green...in any shade. These emeralds are so vibrant and gorgeous...Gives me ideas for our master bath, among other things. All of those shots feel infused with happiness and who wouldn't want that?
ReplyDeleteHappy that the post struck a chord with you, seems like you have been a green hoarder from that Simply Selmas story ;) You're right green is such a happy color, it reminds me of springtime and that is probably why green is the color of hope. Oh, I can't wait to see what you'll do with your master bath.
DeleteI love it! I love the shade most on the doors and that sexy green subway tile. I love Pantone, but I never quite understand their color of the year choices. I think two years ago it was Honeysuckle and I never saw a single thing/trend in that shade. I did like last year's choice, though. And I'm excited to see how this one plays out. That stair runner is beautiful, I bet you've pinned that to your stairs board already :)
ReplyDeleteI thought you might like the door, it is in Paris ;) Had to google what color honeysuckle is, see I can't even remember so it must have not been very big that year. Loved last year's choice though, it was tangerine tango, a nice hue of orange, similar to the one I used to paint my front door.
Deletei love this choice for the color of the year, especially with all my daydreams of the spring and summer to come. i really love all the tones that you chose, so rich. i think my favorite is that painted kitchen! i would be so nervous to paint my cabinets that color but it looks remarkable. love the green subway tiles too.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that green kitchen great! It makes me want to paint mine again but luckily I still remember how much work was involved, so no kitchen cabinet painting for now...
DeleteTo be honest green isn't my first choice when it comes to choose a color; but maybe at the end of this "emerald-year" I will be convinced by all those wonderful pins and blog posts :)
ReplyDeleteYou still have a lot of time this year to warm up to the color ;)
DeleteI'm not so into greens, but I bought a emerald green vest from forever21, already in june and felt in love with this green, not every shade. Now thinking about it to paint a console table in emerald green. And thanks, for mentioning me. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, to painting that console table green! I am thinking about painting something green as well...
DeleteLoving emerald too! Especially in homes. I haven't been brave enough to go there yet, but this may just be the push i needed :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't been brave enough yet either but those kitchen cabinets really speak to me...
DeleteOkay, I've totally be eyeing those wine glasses from West Elm for weeks now. $30+ isn't too much to pay for 4 glasses, right? Sigh
ReplyDeleteI love those glasses but only own cheapo stuff from IKEA so far. You should spring for it as a treat after your move.
DeleteAs a brunette, I adore this colour! It complements my colouring beautifully. Might have to take a little trip to Zara in my lunch break today to visit that dress!
ReplyDeleteAnd did you stop by Zara? I used to wear green a lot because I liked the way it complimented my green eyes...
DeleteI, for one, love green. In all of its incarnations and for both wardrobe and home. And this is the first post I've come across featuring "the colour of the year", so thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! I only own one green cardigan and a pair of green jeans but that might change...
DeleteI am wondering how they choose the color too! Is there a group of people flipping through a color fan deck and then they decide ok we like this color and it will be the color of the year? ;)
ReplyDeleteI love green and the pics you posted are quite awesome. Cannot say what I like most as love them all!

Well, now that I see the color all laid out in your round up, I'm rather liking it. The color of that dress is so rich; It's beautiful. Those stairs are spectacular! I'm loving them against all that black and white. It creates such a wonderful contrast. How ever are you going to decide on the final outcome for your stairs? So many amazing choices out there.
ReplyDeleteI saw the dress at the store today and I was rather disappointed, not with the color but with the fabric. It looks so great in the photo...I still haven't made a decision regarding the stairs, at this rate it will be done in about 10 years ;)
