So many things happened in the past three weeks. The backyard was finally finished (yay!), we painted the fence in front of our house black (not so fun), although first it got a coat of brown rust inhibiting primer, I tried out a new gadget (mat cutter. love it!), hung a gallery wall (finally), sprained my foot (I still have two big bruises), had to walk on crutches (exhausting), made an advent calendar for P's birthday (last minute), made a cake and decorated a tree. I am still a bit flabbergasted that Christmas is around the corner, like every year it sneaks up on me but this year we have already decorated the tree, bought most of our presents and are hopefully not feeling stressed out by the holidays. What about you? Are you guys prepared for the upcoming holidays?

Wow! SO much! I don't know what to be most excited about! ;) Maybe the back yard, definitely NOT the crutches! I feel totally overwhelmed right now, but I'm taking Christmas by the horns this week and getting everything DONE. Take that, Christmas! So nice to see you busy and happy, my dear! XO
ReplyDeleteHurray for taking Christmas by the horns, I am giving this a go this year as well and so far so good...Finishing the backyard was a huge weight being lifted off my shoulders. And yes you're so right I am busy but happy, after what the first half of the year dealt me I enormously enjoy feeling happy again. xo
DeleteA lot of ups and downs in one post! I saw those crutches on Instagram and was hoping they weren't yours because, having had to use crutches myself before, I know how much they suck! Are you off of them now? What happened to your foot?? At least your house looks great, right? ;) That gallery wall is beautiful. As usual I'm so impressed with your DIY-ness! xo
ReplyDeleteI did not know that walking on crutches would require a tremendous amount of upper body strength, which I do not have. I was so pooped every evening that I went straight to bed, falling asleep when my head touched the pillow. Daydreaming and klutzy me fell down the stairs spraining my foot. Luckily I was able to ditch the crutches after 5 or 6 days. I have to admit I am in love with the gallery wall as well, now I also want to create one on the other side of the fireplace ;) xo
Deletethat is a busy few weeks! so sorry about your ankle, crutches are the worst. but your house looks amazing!! i love love love the gallery wall. i have a matt cutter too, though i haven't used it yet. i am hoping to get a gallery wall up in my hallway one of these days. i think i will be using yours for a little inspiration. xoxo ps that tree is perfect!
ReplyDeleteYou should put up a gallery wall in your hallway, the mat cutter would come in handy ;) I already have friends lining up for me to cut mats for them. My next project is add a gallery wall on the other side of the fireplace as well, above the mid-century dresser, though the TV might disappear when I hang pictures around it. My foot is much better now, it barely hurts, only bruises left. xo
DeleteSorry to hear about your foot, hope it will heal soon.
ReplyDeleteYippee about the backyard! Any chance of seeing a post about it before winter hits?
The foot is already much better. And yes there will be a post of the finished backyard soon :)
DeleteNina, I'm still behind but I'm not letting it get to me... and maybe simplifying a bit this year. We'll see if I can still keep Charlie Brown's Christmas spirit alive, even without all the commercialization
ReplyDeleteSimplify is always good! I have to watch the movie first to understand what Charlie Brown's Christmas spirit is but I am sure they will show it constantly in the weeks to come.
DeleteI love my matt cutter- its the best. your poor foot- that is the worst. I can not believe Christmas is almost here- I think it's because Thanksgiving was so late this year.
ReplyDeletemat not matt LOL- oh auto correct love it.
ReplyDeleteLol. I don't think Matt would like to be cut ;) Ah, Auto correct and I are no friends either, especially on Instagram...I am still in disbelief that Christmas is around the corner, it always sneaks up on me.
