woman vs chair - round 7

The last round was all about finishing the backside of the backrest. I used a flexible metal strip (ply grip) and stretched the fabric over the little teeth, trimmed the access and folded everything over. Than I gave it a little whack with a hammer to ensure everything was tightly folded over (as seen in the 5th photo). Next step is finishing the seat cushion and polishing the legs...

  1. That metal piece looks scary! Scary yet effective, obviously, haha. It's looking better and better every step of the way! I went back through your archives (like, from the beginning since I'm a big creeper :) and saw what the chair started out as, and WHOA. What a transformation already. It's going to look so good with all the sweat equity you put into it. Is it going to swivel when it's all done? I love swivel chairs.

  2. The metal strip made the back of the back of the chair look like a sharks mouth at first, unfortunately I didn't take any pictures. It's so hard to remember to take photos because I'm way too exited that I'm nearing the end of refinishing that chair. I've been compared to the piggy on the Geico commercials going WeeeeeeeeeeWeeeeeeeWeeeeeeeeee in excitement ;)This chair doesn't swivel but one of my next project involves a swivel chair.

  3. Wow, had not heard of such a thing. Looks rough, but it made a nice finished look.
Your chair is really moving on great.

  4. You are making some great progress on that chair, woman! It looks like a professional job. I really do enjoy following the rehab journey of this chair. Pretty soon, we will see the final, beautiful result.

  5. Glad you still like to follow my chair rehab story, I was already worried it might get too much because I'm writing about it every week. It is so much fun working on the chair, just wish I had all the tools at home to get the work done faster ;)
