We are safe and sound but we lost power during the storm. Visiting a friend who has power right now, recharging phone and laptop batteries and wanted to give you a quick update..
Yesterday we walked around our area to assess the damage and witnessed this rescue effort. A woman and her two dogs that got trapped in her apartment were able to get out with the help of this contraption. Good to see people looking out for each other!
Talk to you soon! xx
That is good to hear! Hope everything gets back to normal soon.
ReplyDeleteWe got our power back Friday night and it's getting better every day!
DeleteSO happy you're okay! But what a shame you lost power. NJ and NY really got slammed hard with the storm. I hope you guys are back to normal soon. That rescue looks incredible, and that pup looks so happy! You should submit that to a local news channel, that's a seriously good shot. Way to brave the elements to capture it! Let me know if there's anything I can do! xo
ReplyDeleteLoosing power for several days was bad but not as bad as loosing your home. I feel very fortunate to not have been hit harder by the storm...
DeleteTake care of yourself Nina. Hope things start getting back to normal soon.
ReplyDeleteEvery day now is a step back to rebuilding NJ and NY! For me everything is almost back to normal as of today. Commuting into the city takes a lot of time though...
DeleteI was so relieved to hear from you here and on twitter! So many sad, sad stories coming out of your part of the world, and yet so many stories of resilience. And this picture? This gives me hope. :) Holding you all in the light.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the doggies and their owner being rescued I started to cry because they were all so happy...
DeleteI've been following you on Twitter - it's really good to know that you're safe!
ReplyDeleteThanks rooth!
DeleteHi Nina, glad to hear that u r doing well (((HUG))). Heartbreaking hearing stories of what some people have gone through, and so beautiful hearing stories of peeps helping each other. We haven't had heat for the past few days but not a peep of complaint here being grateful of what we do have. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteI feel grateful for what I have too! In our area people who still had power put out extension cords so people could charge their phones and some even provided hot cups of coffee for the wait.
DeleteI cannot believe the images of Hoboken online. I'm glad you guys are ok and have someone with power near you. We're still without power as well and found ourselves at a local mall last night trying to charge phones and catch internet. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteHoboken got hit pretty hard. We walked around Hob on Thursday when people started cleaning out their apartments, stores etc. that got flooded. It was heartbreaking to see their whole lives ending up as piles of trash on the side of the streets...
DeleteThank you for the update. So happy to hear that you're okay, Nina! I still can't believe all the destruction this storm caused. Thinking of all of you who are dealing with the aftermath. Be safe and hang in there, Nina. xx
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe that the pictures I see on TV are basically in front of my doorstep, it's so unreal.
Deleteoh my goodness! so happy to hear you are safe. the images are so terrifying. but i love seeing this one with the little rescued puppy dog.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine! It made me happy to see the rescue because it meant people were looking out for each other...
