another yard post - fire pits

This month I think I caught backyard fever and I just can't stop looking for inspiration for our future yard. Another think I love in yards are fire pits, who doesn't like to spend cooler evenings around a fire and roast marshmallows and make s'mores. I only discovered s'mores in my twenties so I still have a lot of catching up to do. How could I have lived without them for so long?

I love the simple fire pit that Morgan of The Brick House created. I guess I need to take a welding class soon. The possibilities are endless, I could also weld steel planter boxes etc...Ok, I don't really have time for that but it would be fun. Either one of my selection would be welcome in my yard, No 7 can even be used as a grill.

So who's coming over for a nice chat around the fire with a bottle of wine and roasted marshmallows? Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. I love the last one!! But damn it's expensive.
Also I think firepit should work with wood and not gas. The grill can work with gas, but I love listening to the crackling of the wood stoke the fire in a fireplace.

  2. I'm totally with onshore on this one. Firepits need wood, hands down. I think #9 might be my favorite too. Neel and I always get a joint gift on our anniversary and years and years ago we got a firepit. Just a cheapy one from Target, but it was one of our best gifts ever. Our whole neighborhood loves it! Now that idea makes me happier for fall. Red wine and firepit time.

    1. I agree with you two that a firepit needs wood but the gas fired ones look so great. Love the look of No 9, not the price though ;)

  4. I'm in! I'll bring tons of marshmallows and lots of yummy graham crackers and chocolate. OR we could make them on speculoos, the cookies that Trader Joe's cookie butter is based on. Now THAT would be delicious! I love all the options you picked, and I love how urban they all look. You can't go wrong with any of them, but I think my favorite is the Restoration Hardware one. So probably the most expensive, haha. Oh well! Have a great weekend, eat lots of smores (hint: you can make marshmallows in your toaster oven, open faced on graham crackers with chocolate, and assemble them when they're nice and hot! :)

    1. Erin you are a genius! Using speculoos sounds delicious. Thank you for the tip with the toaster oven, I have made some roasted marshmallows over my stovetop but that was probably not the most economical way ;)

  7. That's funny, I was JUST looking into firepits because bronze is the traditional 8th anniversary gift, and fire pits can be kind of bronze, right? Like #4, but more of a Target version, ha ha.

    1. Heather that would be a perfect anniversary gift! I would have to wait over a year though because we've only been married for almost 7 years now. Now that I write it out it sounds like a lot. Ha, ha...

  8. Me, me! I'll be right over. Having just returned from camping, I share your love for a great fire pit. There is something very cozy and relaxing about sitting and staring into a warm fire outdoors. Add wine and s'mores to the mix and you've got yourself something special. Happy weekend, Nina!

    1. Theresa, hope you had a great weekend! I used to love hearing stories around a campfire I think that would be a great idea to add to the mix of s'mores and wine too...

    1. Let me know when you come by ;) I didn't know what s'mores were when I first moved to the US. It's a roasted marshmallow that you put in between two cookies with a piece of chocolate. It's delicious!

  10. I would definitely want to come over and share a bottle of wine and some roasted marshmallows around a fire pit, especially the one in the second picture. I just love how it looks; simple yet cozy. And it’s small, so it won’t take up a lot of space even if I place it in the center of my backyard.
