week thirty one

It's soooo hot and humid here my brain turned to mush and I have a hard time writing today's post. The heat killed my plan of finishing up my vestibule projects, although I have started painting the second door frame with an oil based primer but it still needs two layers of white paint. Of course I didn't even attempted to lay the floor but I have made a little drawing of how I want to lay the floor. Hopefully it cools down soon so I can finish painting and start working on the floor.

The weekend got off to a pretty lazy start with me falling asleep at 8:30pm. I think the heat got the best of me, I nearly feel asleep while eating dinner. Saturday we biked a little bit along the Hudson and discovered that you can go on for miles and miles right along the water just north of us. In the evening we had dinner in NYC with friends. Sunday I met a bunch of my girlfriends in Long Island City for brunch. After our brunch we took a stroll along the East River and afterwards everybody went home except for me. I jumped onto the next East River Ferry to take me to Williamsburg where I met with P. The ferry let me off right at a flea market so we browsed it for a while, I spotted a gorgeous Mid-Century modern bar cart but knowing New York prices I didn't even dared to ask its price. After the flea market we escaped the heat and headed to the nearest bar...

Hope you had an equally relaxing weekend!

  1. You could guide some of the heat this way. We've had surprisingly cold summer and lot of rain.

But really hope it does cool down a bit, I'd like to see a finished vestibule :D The floor sounds intriguing.

    1. I am more than willing to send you some excess heat! Unfortunately still not finished with the vestibule but my parents come in early September and by then I want to be finished.

  2. You've got me thinking about biking more and if I should attempt biking with groceries. I don't think my balance is quite good enough yet

    1. Yes to biking more! Maybe you can get basket for the rear of your bike? I like it when the weight is in the back, somehow it feels more balanced...

  3. Ooh the Brooklyn Flea! How was it? Aside from being obviously overpriced, haha. I love love love your blue skirt, you always have the best and most colorful outfits! Total wardrobe inspiration, you are. I finally got the Ikea catalog! Yipee! Don't feel bad about not getting everything accomplished in the vestibule, some weekends you just need to relax. I'm a big fan of falling asleep early :)

    1. This was just a small satellite location of the Brooklyn Flea. They had great stuff and lots of delicious food. Loved one stall that sold vintage glasses, they had cool pairs from the fifties. P told me that I was already asleep at 7:30 and I thought I stayed up until 8:30. I guess I am getting old ;)

  4. Ooh, it sounds lovely. I don't know why I haven't gotten an IKEA catalog in the mail - Waaaah! I wonder if you need to sign up every year or something?

    1. Heather hope your IKEA catalog arrived! I didn't have to sign up for delivery, I guess they sent it out to everyone in our neighborhood.

  5. Humidity is not my friend (and that goes double for my hair). Sounds like a lovely & social weekend!

    1. Oh yes humidity makes me look like a frizz ball, that's why I wear my hair up all the time but I always want fuller hair and that's the time of year when it happens...

  6. I'm thinking you're probably pretty smart to just listen to your body and take it easy this past weekend. The heat is sapping it from all of is. All those things will wait. I still don't have the IKEA catalog, and I'd love to get there sometime before summer is out (our closest is just over 2 hours away). Wishing, wishing.

    1. You are right sometimes it's better to listen to your body than to get all the work done and I still have time until my parents arrive. Or I will have to put them to work ;) Hope the IKEA catalog found it's way into your mailbox!

  8. Well, if it's any consolation, summer finally decided to show up in these parts. We are having a bit of a heat wave here in Southern California, along with some small earthquakes. Yup, when it gets hot here, we're almost guaranteed a quake. Thank goodness you missed all this excitement when you were out.
Good decision to put off the vestibule. It's absolutely no fun to work in heat and humidity. Better to get out and quench your thirst.
