week thirty three

Today starts another week. Can you believe it? If times keeps flying by like it has been so far this year Christmas will be here in no time...

Last week was full of surprises, actually six cute surprises. We discovered a stray cat with a litter of five little kittens in our neighbors backyard. The mother looked very thin so we started feeding her and the little bunch. They are still very shy but have come to realize that we mean no harm. We are trying to get a local organization to help us get all of them spayed and neutered so they can be either set free again or maybe adopted. P and I are still debating if we should keep one or two. I had a cat growing up and still miss the little munchkin...

During week two of my closet project I resurrected a bag, a black pointelle (?) sweater and a striped Marc by Marc Jacobs skirt, that I have owned for ages. On the other hand I already failed trying not to buy anything. I stopped at H&M with a friend yesterday and left the store with a mustard yellow scarf. I guess I have to prepare for fall ;)

This weekend I cleaned up the house a bit and found this old object I made with a friend out of old bottles and concrete. I used it as a candle holder at one point but now that it has broken in half I had to get rid of it. But I couldn't let it go without taking some farewell pictures.

Last but not least I visited the Yayoi Kusama exhibition at the Whitney. Sorry for misspelling her name twice on Instagram! I realized my mistakes after uploading the pictures but unfortunately you can't edit after it is up on the site. I will write about that experience a little more this week so stay tuned...

Have a great start into the new week!

  1. I love your weekly recaps Nina! And I love that you guys are tending to those kittens! I am all in favor of keeping one...or a couple. I'm not the greatest at not buying things, but I keep trying! And for your candle holder...smart to take a photo since you had to say goodbye. xo

    1. I am not great at not buying stuff either but I am giving it my best. So far I resisted a cute skirt at Anthropologie ;) I am also deleting all email newsletters from my favorite stores without opening them. We will see how long I can manage..

  3. What a funky candle holder! Too bad it broke.
Those kitties are really so cute. I wish you could keep one (or two or five).
Oh you went to see HER exhibition, she is a bit too spotty for my taste :)

  4. Kitties! I hope you end up keeping one (or two!) and that the rest get adopted into loving homes. I would keep the mom and one kitten if I were you ;) Not that I'm trying to be a bad influence or anything! They are just too adorable.
Good call on the mustard scarf, that is such a staple color for fall! Hmm, maybe I need to get a head-start on my fall shopping too? One of the many reasons I love that Orla Kiely scarf you sent me is because the colors translate so well into every season, and I can't wait to wear it in the fall too. I always love seeing your outfits from your birds-eye view; you're always so chic!

    1. Keeping the mom is not an option, she hisses at me when I feed her. She likes P much better and even tried to follow him inside. Thanks for making me feel less guilty about my purchase! Glad you still like your Orla Kiely scarf...

  5. There's nothing cuter than kittens you should keep two! i got my cat as a stray and I've always regretted not keeping her brother (someone else did take him). Thanks for feeding the momma. I'm such an animal enthusiast and it makes me crazy to think about all all the strays. keep us posted! Teri

    1. The mom was really thin when we started feeding her, I guess 5 babies wore her out. So it is possible to tame a stray kitten and make them live comfortably with humans? That's good to know!

  7. I hope you do decide to keep one of those kittens. I think it's great that you're trying to get all the kittens spayed/neutered, as if you're not busy enough. :)
I'm looking forward to your recap of the Kusama exhibition. I loved seeing all your Instagram photos. Now, I just need your thoughts to make the experience complete.
PS~I share Erin's appreciation of your outfit pics.

    1. Thank you Leah! I can't believe how fast this year is flying by either...Who can't resist those kitties? If they weren't so shy I would have already had a snugglefest with them ;)

  9. We're all Christmas fanatics at work so we have a countdown going - nearly 100 days! It's insane! Don't blame you for buying something from H&M, I am yet to walk in there without walking out with something (even worse now that they are online in the UK)!

    1. H&M is hard to resist isn't it? In the US they don't have an online shop yet, I guess it's good in the sense that I don't get tempted to order more things online...
