Happy hump day everyone! It already feels like Friday, I have two deadlines looming above my head and my week has been all work and no play so far. Luckily I was a good girl and prepared this post on Sunday otherwise this week would be postless.
I want to start a new monthly column called mini makeover where I post about small improvements to our house or other little projects. With the pressure of having to finish 12 small projects over the course of the year I will finally get on to some projects I had in mind for a while. Today's mini makeover is the fence in the front of our house. It had all these ornate decorative pieces in it and we wanted the fence to look more modern, so when our contractor was at our place to work on the bathrooms we had him cut out the decorative pieces. Now we are left with rusty spots where the pieces were cut out but once it gets a little bit warmer I will give the fence a good scrub with a metal brush to loosen up the old paint, maybe sanding it as well and then the fence will get a fresh coat of paint. Hopefully that will make the fence look like new again. Our railing at the stair needs a little bit more work, somebody has to come and fix the wobbly thing before I will be able to paint it. Can't wait for spring to come so I can start working on the fence and the overall curb appeal on the front of the house.

What's on you list for a mini makeover? Or did you recently finish one?
Modern suits you much better! I like! We have sooooooo many make overs! Too many to count! I really, really want our barn door in our butler's pantry, but we simply need to pick up the phone to call a bathroom contractor first! I'll look forward to more of these Nina!
ReplyDeleteToo bad you guys are so far away because otherwise I could send our contractor your way, he is amazing! And yes to a barn door for your butlers pantry. I definitely have too many mini makeovers I want to get working on but with this new series I will at least get 12 off my list ;)
DeleteI have a looooooong list of mini makeovers - viele Möbel, die neu gestrichen werden wollen, z.B.
DeleteIt definitely feels like it fits more with the rest of the house, just by removing those two pieces! It looks more modern and simple now. I think with a good scrub and a fresh coat of paint you'll never know those rusty bits were there! What color are you thinking? I like the idea of the mini makeover series. It might motivate me to tackle some more projects of my own :)
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what color I want to paint the fence. P thinks we should paint it black again but I think silver or white could look nice as well. Argh, too many decisions...I really hope I can keep the momentum of the series up and finish my 12 projects ;)
DeleteIt's the small things that really make a difference - you definitely have the eye for grabbing all the details
ReplyDeleteThanks rooth!
Deleteoooo, i like this mini makeover series! what a great idea. 12 posts, 12 months. that is totally doable. and, yes, i think cutting out the ornate heart pieces was a good move. can't wait to see the end result! xo
ReplyDeleteBefore I can show you the end result I have to make up my mind what color I want to paint the fence. I have not been good at making decisions lately ;)
DeleteIt def looks more modern. Scrubbing with metal brush will be a great bi-cepts work out hahaha. I'm still in muscle pain from my gym class so EVERYTHING seems liek a workout lately! I'm aiming to prep photos of my home's bathroom design steps already implemented to post on my blog + I still need to work on more of it = like creating a CHEAP (um, economical) valance.
ReplyDeleteOh, I can already feel my sore muscles just thinking about the work ;) Looking forward to see photos of your bathroom and like to read your tips about the valance.
DeleteThis is a great idea. My mini improvements list is that long. You should paint your fence in a really bold color. :)
ReplyDeleteHa, ha my mini makeover list is humongous but with the new series I'll get at least 11 more done this year ;)
DeleteUu nice, much more sleak.
ReplyDeleteThanks Leena!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I am so happy to see these images. Although I don't have one of these fences, I have often found myself looking at them and thinking "...would look so much better without the scrolly ornamentation..." But of course, it would never occur to me to take it to the next level to just cut them out. Now, if I'm ever in the situation, I'll have a point of reference with this post!
ReplyDeleteAt least you have a great foundation! You can't change bones. :)
