cos - collection of style

After writing about one of my favorite Swedes on Friday I want to introduce you to another one of my favorite imports from Sweden: COS, short for Collection of Style. I do not really write about clothes and fashion on this blog but this does not mean I do not have any interest in fashion, but I do not consider myself very fashionable. Unfortunately COS has not crossed the pond yet but that is hopefully going to change, although no date has been set yet. COS is a brand owned by H&M and they promise high end design and good quality at affordable prices. I really like their simplistic and minimalistic style but sometimes you really need to try on their clothes because on the hanger it just looks like a sack. So far everything I own from them has been great quality and some items have lasted for years without looking worn or faded. Every time I visited my parents in the last years I had to make a trip to the COS store in Hamburg, my hometown, preferably after Christmas, when they start their sale. Talking about sale, they have a great one going on now and of course I could not resist. I ordered 1, 3, 5 & 6 plus another dress, as well as a black merino wool sweater with batwing sleeves. Unfortunately they had to delete dress 3 from my order because it was sold out. Since I had to sent my order to my parent's house I still have to wait until September to see my goodies, which is ok as it is too hot right now to wear most of the clothes I ordered anyways. My sister tried on all the clothes and she and my mom think everything will fit and I will be happy with it too. There is just one dress that I might have to sent back because of the fit and my mom has an eye on the batwing sweater, as it might be a little big on me. We shall see...

What is your favorite clothing store? And are you such a sucker for a good sale, like me, as well?

  1. I just shopped there two weeks ago, lots of really nice clothes with loose fitting (they go well with the belly too, but are not maternity clothes so I can wear them later too). I like their style a lot, simple but with a twist.
I'm not much of a sucker for a good sale. Every time I go to a sale I end up buying something normal priced and usually nothing from the sale :D

    1. Yes, exactly simple with a twist, these are the words I was looking for. I think because their clothes are so simple they will not really go out of style that fast. Good thinking with buying clothes that you can keep wearing after the baby is born.

  2. Oh, WOW. Love, love, love. I feel like I'm still trying to determine my style. Isn't that funny. At the ripe old age of 43? But minimal it is and I'm culling everything that isn't just that. Hope this stuff makes it over here soon.

    1. I haven't exactly found my style either. Sometimes it's fun to try new things. I used to wear only black, gray and white mixed with jeans but have expanded my wardrobe with prints and colorful pieces.

  3. love! i do hope they jump the pond and soon! i also hope the batwing sweater fits you. how absolutely sweet is it that your mom and sister help you so. i am sure it's such a lovely way for them to feel like you are "there."

as for my style, eek! in my mind i'd love to dress different. not too different but definitely better, more variety. as is i dress according to the philosophy of "if there was an earthquake what would i want to be wearing?" this leaves me wearing biker boots, leggings, long tanks/shirts, and cardigans most days - or some variation of this. not that i actually worry about earthquakes or anything. but you never know. xo

    1. Your go to outfit sounds great. I love wearing boots but it's too hot right now. Yes, them helping definitely makes us feel like we are more connected and involved in each others lives. My sister even took photos of herself in the clothes and sent them to me. xo

  4. First of all, I had no idea that COS was Swedish and I had no idea that had such badass clothes! I think I wondered into one once on Oxford Street and the crowds were so insane that I ran back out again. Now I know why! I don't usually go for very bright colours but I adore that yellow skirt... it will look great with a summer tan! Thanks for the introduction Nina (guess where I am going in my lunch break)!

  5. Of course they're the same parent company as H&M, those Swedes do everything right! I love the aesthetic and am crossing my fingers that COS makes an appearance stateside soon. Grays and blacks in oversized patterns? Basically my wardrobe dream come true! You're lucky you have the option for online shopping since your family is in Germany; but I hear we're getting H&M online shopping next month!! FINALLY! xo

    1. Weeeeeeh, an H&M online store would be amazing! Those Swedes can do no wrong. Heard from my sister that H&M started another label in Europe, I really need to check it out. But why can't they cross the pond too?
