mini makeover VIII - cherry tree branches

This is actually a double makeover, first we cut the cherry tree in the front of the house as it was growing way out of control and getting too close to the overhead wires. When it was time to bag all the cut branches I had the idea to bring a few inside and put them in a vase. To make it a little bit more christmassy (is that a word?) I added some fabric mushrooms I bought at Ikea a couple of years back. I thought they were super cute in the store but then they got stuffed into a drawer and never saw the light of day again until now. Still think they are cute, now I just need them to face in the right direction, I want to see their dots in the front ;) Are your homes ready for the holidays or are you not decorating this year?

Have a great weekend and stay warm!

  1. this is super cute. this sort of thing is where i really fall apart - centerpieces and such. i don't know what my problem is but i could never make that look as adorable and chic as you do! and might i just add i love the architectural details in your house! so lovely.

i have kind of decorated both more and less than i normally do. i have new addition to my house (not living) and it's kind of taken center stage, i'll be blogging about it so you can see. but it's a big "decoration" and thus i have left a lot of my little decorations in their boxes. which is fine with me, less to put to away later! have a great weekend nina. xo

    1. Thanks Christine! The little architectural details of our house were what made us fall in love with it, still love it. Now I am so curious what you new addition is, my brain is working pretty hard to figure it out ;) Hope you are enjoying your weekend as well! xo

  2. How did I miss this? Things have been crazytown at our house and some of my favorite things have gone missing. I think this is absolutely gorgeous. I have a beautiful pot that belonged to Neel's mom and we've had the same pretty branches in it for so many years...I hesitate to tell you how long. In fact, I think I won't. It's gotten to the point where I don't see them any longer.

Now. If I'd seen this at a decent time, I could have grabbed the hydrangea branches as Neel was trimming them back this weekend, but too late! Now I'll just have to keep an eye out.

  3. Those little mushrooms are so adorable, right out of Super Mario brothers or something haha. Very clever using simple branches from outside! xo

  6. I love that you brought in a branch from outside (I totally go that ALL THE TIME). My recent branch rescue was TALLER than me haha. I still haven't finish decorating for xmas my home (still working on my Holiday Gift Wrap series this week showing creative ways to wrap presents ... so much fun to do, but then there's the photo editing, cropping, upload etc yikes etc.). Aiming to finish decorating this weekend so I can take pics and publish on blog. p.s I loooooooooooooove the mushrooms!
