birdfeeder part II

Today's post has been sitting in the draft folder for a while but I am glad I realized I had something started I could use for today's post already. It has been so cold this week that I am suffering from acute brain freeze and having not prepped any posts last weekend did not help either...

Because the first DIY birdfeeder I made in October was such a success with the birds I made another one with a lamp shade I picked up at an estate sale a while back. I still have another glass globe lamp shade that I want to use for another still top secret project. For all the DIY challenged I have rounded up a selection of my favorite non traditional bird feeders you can just order online without getting messy with silicone and a string. Do you have a bird feeder in your garden?

Have a great weekend and stay warm!

  1. Gosh, #8 is so darn cute! I wish I had a garden. At most, all I could do now is hang a bird feeder on the tree at our curb, but it would only attract pigeons or tiny sparrows. And I think the neighbors would hate me? Haha.

Can't wait to see your super secret DIY! Have a great weekend, Nina!

    1. We only have sparrows too. Eeek, I am scared of pigeons, luckily those stay away. P gets annoyed from the chirping of the birds in the summertime and I don't even hear it ;) The super secret DIY is not finished yet, hopefully soon...

  2. I don't have a bird feeder but I really want one and need to get one this spring. My neighbor always throws out moldy bread and other such left overs for the birds, which isn't good for them, so maybe if I get a feeder they will stop eating the old food (and then he will stop throwing it in front of my walkway ;) ).

I did a round-up post with bird feeders awhile ago and I was surprised to find so many cute ones. I love all of the these but 3.4,6,10 are my favorites.

    1. I was surprised to find so many great bird feeder choices, I had a hard time narrowing down my choices. Throwing moldy bread in front of your walkway is not nice. Our neighbors flick their cigarette butts in our front yard and I have to pick them up all the time. Yuck!

  3. I'm not going to tell you about what happened to our bird feeder because it'll freak you out. Suffice it to say it involved mice - ick

    1. Oh, no they ate all the food and started a family in your bird feeder?

  4. I love birds and would love to feed them, but I do not want to make the rodent problem any bigger. So far we have not have too much of them but I've seen mice and we have some moles living near the creek. Lets not get even started on the squirrels, those are cute but rodents anyhow.

    1. I haven't seen any rodents near our feeders, maybe they sneak up on them during the night.

  5. I don't have a bird feeder, and I never thought about getting one until I saw this round up. Who knew there were so many cleverly designed options out there. I still like yours with the neon string. Well, I hope you're enjoying some downtime and enjoying your weekend, Nina. Stay warm!

  6. Our garden just seems to attract the scary London pigeons complete with mangled feet and bad temperaments. When spring finally makes an appearance I am so going to get one of these (no. 7) and see if we can chase those scary pigeons away with some pretty small birds!

    1. I am scared of pigeons, I can remember feeding them on St. Mark's Square in Venice as a kid and they all tried to kill me. Ok, they didn't try to kill me but they fought very hard for the bread in my hands ;)
