where to go from here?

Last week in my Boot Camp class we had the assignment to make a moodboard that reflects what we want our blogs to be like. This is what I wrote as a little description of my board: The inspiration for my blog comes from my love of diy and renovation projects for our home as well as design and architecture in general. I would like to make the things I already like on my blog to stand out more and be more consistent with content as well as style. Also I want to make the overall look more cohesive.

I used only my own photos to create the board, the ones chosen reflect what I like most about this blog. This is mainly where I showcase the projects I do around our house, the occasional diy project as well as exploring the architecture and design around me and taking photos in general. Some of the photos I took just for the board some I pulled from my archives. It is pretty evident that I like whites and greys with a pop of color, mainly orange, here and there. Now I just (ha, ha!) have to pull those things together and incorporate it into the blog. Nothing easier than that right?

Here is last years moodboard I created exactly one year ago as a comparison. Colors, camera and having tools present is consistent. I am already curious about what next years moodboard will look like...

  1. Look how much lighter you've gotten! I wonder what that means.... I am terrible at creating mood boards. Just awful. I never did it for our first BYW. Just put my fingers in my ears and pretended that we never had that assignment! I have to say, I think your most recent board is much more cohesive. If you sit with it a bit (and by that, I think I mean let it sit and then come back to it), I think you'll find some answers.

    1. I wonder about why I chose to be so dark in the old board. Maybe I am just a bit more confident in my abilities now and happier in general? Ha, ha I pretended not to have the assignment to write an about page for my blog. Did this the last class and this one. It's something I need to tackle though. I printed out the new board and stuck it above my desk and let it digest for a while and see where it leads me...

  5. There are definite differences between the two, but both still speak the same language, if that makes sense. They are both very "you" too. I'm excited to see how you incorporate those moodboards into your blog going forward! I'm sure there are some blog themes out there that could highlight all those things.

  7. This years is so much whiter, the last year's looks a bit murky to my eyes. But in both I love the themes and the style.
I too am a big fan of tools, especially old but still working ones.

  11. I think both boards are consistent in their messaging and the things you love, which is good. I think people love consistency. As you mention, the difficult part is always finding the time to do all that you want. There just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day. You're motivation is motivating me. ;) Keep up the great work, Nina!

  13. Love the comparison between your two mood boards. I did the same thing. It's interesting isn't it to look back on your "vision" from 12 months ago and then see how much of that remains now?

Thanks for sharing. I feel like my moodboard looks like your 2011 board, apparently orange is in my future. :) Love the board, love how you do images (am reading pumpkin post next). Glad to (virtually) meet you & your blog.
