We've been off to Los Angeles for a little weekend getaway from the 16th to the 20th of June. Mainly to go to the U2 concert in Anaheim on the 17th but we also got to hang out with friends, stalked some pretty cool houses and ate a lot. More on that will follow soon...

lunch on the high line
Last week I checked out the second section of the high line during my lunch break. The day was unbearably hot, it might have been close to a 100 degrees but I still had to walk over anyways because I was just too curious.
When I saw the Rainbow City I thought I might be seeing a mirage ;)
I had to include the picture of my feet because I'm currently obsessed with pink nail polish, this one is Bermuda Shorts by Essie. It's actually a bit darker than the picture shows. One strap on my sandals broke on my way back to the office. Rest in peace my comfortable freinds :(

chair - continued
The chair I rescued from its tragic end on a landfill back in April finally made the journey to our place now. I had to drag it onto the path and after that take it on a bus ride. I have already disassembled it, ripped off the broken feet and brought the chrome back to life with Brasso.
When I took it apart I discovered that it was made by Plycraft in September of 1964. Still have to find out more about the manufacturer. The plywood of the armrest/backrest is cracked and somebody already tried to fix it a while back. I have been trying to glue it back together. Hope it will work as planned. Already started thinking about what kind of fabric I would use to upholster the seat.
More updates to follow soon...

driveway flower
Remember our fugly concrete backyard and driveway. There are weeds sprouting in all the cracks in the driveway now and this cute little flower as well, which caught my eyes when I got back from work today.

the high line
On Sunday we walked around the high line to show it to the in-laws. They loved it. We like it too. Every time we walk the high line there is something different to see. Great people watching as well. Section 2 will be open to the public starting today. Yay!

basement clean-up
Instead of painting the front door memorial day weekend we started to clean-up and organize the basement. It was basically just a dumping ground for paint cans and all kinds of stuff that we didn't want upstairs. A major plus working in the basement that weekend was that is was cool down there while the rest of the house got pretty hot.
We already picked up some shelves and bins a while back at Ikea in an earlier attempt to start organizing all our stuff downstairs.
It is still not a 100% done but it looks already much better. Now we are able to find all of our paint cans, rollers, brushes etc.
We still need to disassemble the old washer and dryer to be able to move them out of the basement. They are too big to fit up the stairs. How they got them down the stairs is an unsolved mystery. There's no space for the Billy shelf that is lying on top of the washer/dryer upstairs. Want to post an ad on craigslist to find someone who will pick it up for free.
