woman vs second chair - half time

Back in September I mentioned that I was going to take another upholstery class starting in October and now it is nearing its end. There are only two more classes and then my chair needs to be finished because I don't want to wait for the next class to start in the spring. As a little reminder this is what I started with. So far I have ripped off all the foam, bleached the hell out of the seat and backrest. The dark spots you can still see is glue residue where I couldn't get it off. I have cut my foam to size and on Saturday I sewed the fabric pieces together, again with the help of a friends mother. On Thursday I need to glue the foam to the seat and the backrest and then the stapling can begin. The stapling is the most fun part of the process and because P knows how much I love doing it, he gave me a gift card for an air compressor for my birthday in August. I still have to pick out one though. For Christmas I am wishing for the matching staple guns. Aww, this man knows how to make his woman happy! And I have five more chair projects in the basement I can use the new equipment for...

Is anyone besides me working on a DIY project right know?

  1. Nina, any of my DIY projects are hardly as intense as the ones you take on!

  2. Is this exactly similar as the one you upholstered before? It looks really similar. It will look amazing, just like the previous one, after you are done with it.
Most of my DIY is on hold because of winter, but there is always something small...

    1. It's basically the same chair, the top part is the same but this one has a different base than the first chair.

  3. That's true love right there! A man who knows how to make his woman happy! The chair is coming along beautifully, I'm sure you'll be able to finish it before the end of the classes. That color fabric you chose is great, is it lime green in real life? I'm not sure if the color looks the same online, but I love it. Not tackling any DIY projects right now, unless you count a book! :)

    1. I am so lucky my path and his crossed :) The color of the fabric is called chartreuse, it's a little greener in real life. The book is defintely a huuuge project!

    1. It is so much fun, you should give it a try. But you're right a couch is kind of big and scary...I am always scared of the sewing portion of my upholstery projects because I am not good at it ;)

  10. Gosh, every time you share a upholstery story, I want to take a class. I have two vintage dining room chairs that my dad reupholstered for me, but the fabric he picked is, well, not to my taste. I want so badly for them to be upholstered in black linen. Then, I would love them. Your chair is looking good!
PS~P. certainly knows the way to your diy heart! That is so cool.
